SAN DIEGO COLLAB - SHORT FILM 2022

Our first short dance film revolves around two dancers: Whitney Edwards, a professional ballet dancer navigating the dynamics of being a Black dancer in the corps de ballet; and Jeevika Bhat, an Indo-Contemporary choreographer navigating the Eurocentric biases of the classical dance industry. Cinematography by Mayorca Media. Original Score by Kristopher Estes-Brown. Directed by Steffi Carter. Read more about these artists below!

In addition to hosting live classes, generating original written content, and creating virtual collaboration opportunities, Renversé Ballet hopes to create more short dance films and screendance projects with dancers in cities all over the US. RB's San Diego collab will premiere later in 2022 — where will we go, and who will share their story next?

@mayorcamedia
Felix Mayorca is a professional photographer, cinematographer, and podcaster creating high caliber content, and memories. Mayorca Media created our introduction video, and we love working with him!

"I started this long journey when I was in high school and got a severe concussion during football practice which ended my senior season early. My afternoons became wide open as I was slowly recovering, so I picked up my camera and began photographing sports, pep rallies, and anything else I could sign up for. My love for photography quickly grew and during college crossed over to videography when I was offered an internship position at a non-profit. There, I learned the fundamentals of videography and quickly branched out to weddings, content creation and engagements. I have a wide variety of skills and absolutely love working with people which is why I created Mayorca Media. Whether you are trying to grow your business, create your annual Christmas cards, celebrate a wedding, or simply need new headshots, Mayorca Media will go above and beyond to cultivate pure quality."

Kristopher Estes-Brown is an American composer, choreographer, director, and teacher.

His works span many styles and genres and can be found both on stage and in film. He is the founder and Artistic Director of Concept Zero, a contemporary music and dance company. Concept Zero serves as the ground floor for Estes-Brown’s multimedia productions which blend original music, dance, video, and stagecraft.

Born in a rural town in the Midwest, Estes-Brown moved to Kansas City, Missouri as a child where he studied classical dance and music. Eventually he would go on to dance professionally in many ballet companies across the United States including Milwaukee Ballet, Sacramento Ballet, Oakland Ballet, and Eugene Ballet.

From there, Estes-Brown developed his own choreography style that is the intersection of movement, music, and story telling. His stage works have been performed all across the United States by numerous dance companies with great acclaim. In 2005, Estes-Brown won the Monticello Award from Regional Dance America and his choreography can be found in the Sundance Short Film, Crude Oil.

As a composer, Estes-Brown’s music can be found in many short films and digital media offerings. He has also been commissioned by notable choreographers and theater producers nationwide to create original scores for new productions.
