Picture
Jonathan Jackson is a senior at Western Michigan University (WMU). Since graduating from Cass Technical High School, he has had the opportunity to adjudicate pieces for festivals: International Association of Blacks in Dance Festival, Michigan Youth Arts Festival, Michigan Dance Festival, Oakland Dance Festival, South Chicago Dance Festival, and many more in the metro Detroit area. He’s had the pleasure to lead masterclasses in cities throughout northwestern Detroit.

Jonathan's work chacun pour soi won a Maggie Allesse Choreography Competition Award and was selected to be performed in WMU's Virtual Winter Gala Showcase alongside works by faculty and Jennifer Archibald (2020).

As an actor and dancer, Jonathan has worked with Aku Kodogo, Marles Yearby, and Jessica Care Moore for the original choreopoem premiere of Salt City (2019). Jonathan has also been blessed to work with choreographers Kevin Iega, Kelsey Paschich, and Lisa McCall.

Jonathan was selected as guest artist faculty for the Virtual Brighton Dance Festival (2020), and will be teaching again for the in-person Pros/Teen Program in Brighton Dance Festival (2021). In addition to Renversé Ballet's summer performance RECONNECT, Jonathan has been selected as one of Ballet 5:8's emerging choreographers for their Choreography Intensive in Chicago.
